Sql Server 2016 is a RDMS system . As a database server, it is a software product with the primary function of storing and extracting data as requested by other software application which may run either on another computer across a network (including the Internet).

Standard edition of SQL Server 2016 includes stand-alone services along with core database engine. It differs from Enterprise edition in that it supports fewer active instances and does not include some high-availability functions such as parallel indexes and hot-add memory.

  • Faster queries (Scaling memory-optimized tables, Exploring T-SQL enhancements ,Managing memory-optimized tables, In-memory analytics, Analysis Services enhancements)
  • Better security (Getting started with Always Encrypted, CREATE TABLE statement for encrypted columns, Creating inline table functions, Dynamic data masking of an existing table)
  • Higher availability (Supporting disaster recovery with basic availability groups, Triggering failover at the database level, Defining automatic failover targets, Windows Server Failover Cluster logging )
  • Improved database engine (Understanding Query Store components, Reviewing information in the query store, Managing the query store , Tuning with the query store )

  • R integration( Installing and configuring R Services, Getting started with R Services, Using an R Model in SQL Server )
  • Better reporting ( Report content types, Paginated report development enhancements, Introducing changes to paginated report authoring tools, Exploring new data visualizations, Managing parameter layout in paginated reports )
  • Improved Azure SQL Database ( Introduction to SQL Database Reviewing the evolution of SQL Database Understanding the pricing model Protecting data with high availability and disaster recovery )
  • Elastic database features ( Managing elastic scale, Managing performance levels in elastic database pools, Using elastic database jobs, Distributing queries with elastic query )

Beginnings are very important. A bad start can interupt you in your tracks and divert your attention elsewhere, perhaps never to return. However, a good beginning catches your interest, and encourages you to go further and deeper.
